StatsCast: What is a t-test?

This video explains the purpose of t-tests, how they work, and how to interpret the results.

dementedpuppy : best explanation
Accredited Laboratory :

vinod sunny : Wonderful explanation sir :)
Dilay Şahin : am i dumb
Farhanah Melakan : can i use t-test if the sample is more than 50?
Amir Ahb : the quality of sound is poor (terrible)
Banana Squash : Very good
Maria Rilou : Thank you very much for this video. Our teacher is not good at all unfortunately so thanks again!
Nadia Lacroix : Thank you, this video was very helpful!
Imtithal Saeed : for those who ask about within-group variance, here you are :
(sum(yi1 -y1)2 + sum(yi2 -y2)2 + ….. sum(yi1 -y1)2 ) / (sample_size – number of groups)

Student's t-test

Excel file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/561402/TTEST.xls

In this video Paul Andersen explains how to run the student's t-test on a set of data. He starts by explaining conceptually how a t-value can be used to determine the statistical difference between two samples. He then shows you how to use a t-test to test the null hypothesis. He finally gives you a separate data set that can be used to practice running the test.

Jack Lom : Salamat
Domenic Sanchez : Im currently doing an experimental study between the effects of bio-inoculant liquid fertilizer and chicken manure. I have 2 plant subjects A and B. A is grown using the liquid fertilizer while B is only chicken manure. I am looking forward whch of these two will accelerate growth in a span of 10 weeks after transplantation. by the way the subject are containerized plants. Growth is measured monitored and recorded in weekly basis. My question is T-test applicable to this experiment of mine? or if not what can you suggest as the best statistical treatment?
parsa shah : Thank you soooooooooo much professor ....fantastic
Anju Mk : Thanks a loooootttt.. that was really awesome..didnt know this topic was so simple until i saw this video..
ذوالفقار عباس أمير : its so usefull but can i ask... how could i know if its equal or unequal
Katia NGII : thank you so much
Samreen Usman : so informative vedio for me. i have no idea about statistics and i dont know how to do any type of test but from this vedio i learned alot. thank you so much for such a informative vedio

King Kayton : t-test, t-value, t-stat what the heck is the difference between all that

Statistics made easy ! ! ! Learn about the t-test, the chi square test, the p value and more

Learning statistics doesn’t need to be difficult. This introduction to stats will give you an understanding of how to apply statistical tests to different types of data. You’ll learn about numeric and categorical data and gain an understanding of when to apply a t-test, a chi-square test, ANOVA, and a correlation test. You’ll also learn about hypothesis testing and the p-value. If you’re new to quantitative research or data science, you’ll find this an extremely useful introduction to statistics.

habiba shamsy : Hey! I am from Bangladesh! You are amazing teacher for me!!
Enrique Barragan : The best statistics explanation I ´ve ever seen , thank a lot !
prashant iyer : i learnt statistics in this 12 minutes video much efficiently than it was taught in school years back. I am just so disappointed that every teacher taught statistics with a hypothesis that everyone can understand statistics if jargons are bombarded without actually telling them why is it we are doing something.
Jordan Vas : God blesses those who bless others! C God in Google!!
Nat93 : Thank you so much for taking out your time. This video is just brilliant
Bhavani Shankar : for those troubled indians use '0.75' if you having a trouble catching his words :)
Scott Cherry : Thank you so much for this content!
Stefan Herrera : 2:20
Abdelrahman Alwan : when you compared the current height in the population with the previous height 09:22
is not that a numerical vs categorical like the average age of males and females ?
